Summary of qualifications:
-
Background in transportation engineering areas, focusing on intelligent transportation systems (ITS), connected and automated vehicles (CAVs), travel demand modeling (TDM), highway safety and operations, and sustainable transportation (energy use and emissions).
-
Research skills in big-data analytics (programming-based data processing, visualization and analysis), agent-based modeling, micro and macro-simulations, and advanced statistical analysis (hierarchical modeling, geo-spatial & temporal modeling).
-
Publications in areas of big-data analytics, ITS, CAVs, TDM, agent-based modeling, highway safety, incident management, geo-spatial modeling, sustainable transportation and transportation policy.
Dr. Liu is a Member of two committees of Transportation Research Board, National Academies:
-
ABJ95 - Standing Committee on Visualization in Transportation
-
AFB80 - Standing Committee on Geo-spatial Data Acquisition Technologies
Dr. Liu is the past President (2013-2014) of Student Chapter of Institute of Transportation Engineers at the University of Tennessee.
